Deca Durabolin is an injectable steroid with a long and relatively positive history.  It is a phenomenal steroid for building muscle mass and has been used effectively to treat HIV and AIDS.  It is often used in conjunction with other steroids.  It is Nandrolone Decanoate and came around early in the wave of commercial steroid development being made available as a prescription in 1962.  The carbon atom at the 19th position of the sterna nucleus is removed to make this progestin.  Due to the possibility of endogenous testosterone levels after long cycles, it is mandatory to incorporate ancillary drugs at the conclusion of therapy.

On July 7, 2007, UFC fighter, Sean Muscle Shark Sherk defended his lightweight title again Hermes France.  He later tested positive for Deca Durabolin and his title was stripped and he was suspended for six months.  Shawne Merriman claims that when he tested positive for nandrolone in October 2006 if must have been in a tainted nutritional supplement he took regularly.  Following a match at Wimbledon, Peter Korda became the first high-profile tennis player discovered ingesting a banned substance after he tested positive for nandrolone.  He was banned from the sport for one year and did not return to the professional tour, effectively marking the end of his career.

Although it is a progestin it doesnt produce many purely estrogenic side effects.  However, this can become a concern after long cycles.  This keeps it a favorite in cutting and bulking cycles of the last couple decades.  It has a low rate of aromatization, which is the metabolic conversion to estrogen via the aromatase enzyme.  It is at twenty percent which is equal to the rate of Testosterone.  It can also improve collagen synthesis and bone mineral content, helping athletes with connective tissue problems or other joints issues.  It also has possible positive benefits on the immune mediated anti-inflammatory process, which can sooth joints.  As mentioned earlier, Deca Durbolin has been used successfully in Aids patients.  One main benefit is to stimulate weight gain among this population, as a side effect also experienced in many athletes and body builders as well.

Deca Durabolin has a long active life and injections are typically spaced a week apart, regardless of amount of dose.  It is typically used for twelve weeks and no less than ten weeks.  Supply and demand is high, making it a relatively inexpensive product when buying from an underground lab.  However, this is not the case when purchasing from a human grade supplier or pharmacy.  Ten dollars per amp is common, while a ten milliliter bottle averages $75-100, dosed at 200-200 mg/ml.

For competitive purposes, the major drawback is that in many cases nandrolone metabolites will be detectable in a drug screen for up to one year (or more) after use.  Estimated time frames can be given as to how long it will take for a given does to enter circulation from an injection site.  However, it cannot be known for sure that one-hundred percent fo the steroid will have been metabolized at any given point.  This is clearly due to the form of administrate and the high affinity of esterified compounds to stay stored in fatty tissues.  This is more common in heavy, longer term use.

Deca-Durabolin certainly has positive effects for medical issues as well as training for sports.  However, misuse in sports, as in bodybuilding, must be strongly rejected.  It is considered doping and can cause unwanted repercussions for the athlete.  It is strongly encouraged not to accept any offers of this steroid from the black market or dubious sellers on the internet as they usually include illegal and poor-quality imitations of questionable origin, causing even greater health risks.  As with any other steroid use you should speak with your physician before starting or changing.
